Hello, friends! Every Thursday I write down 10 things that I am thankful for. This started over two years ago after reading "1000 Gifts". It's a great way for me to reflect and focus. This week I am thankful for:
1. Time with just my boys. It was a pro-D day and I had the younger two in daycare so off we went hiking. It was so nice and easy to hike with my big boys! Yes, Koen's shirt is on backwards and his knees were all bloody because he threw himself down a cliff instead of remaining calm when a dog came close to him.
2. Nya's "girl time". She does so well with her brothers but it's not in her to be active all the time. She likes to colour and craft and play family. Yay for cousins who enjoy it too.
3. My Koey. He's so unique. He enjoyed the smell of this flower so why not insert it into your nose for a longer lasting fun?
4. Vulnerability. I love learning from other people's stories. For example, I recently read this and my eyes were opened to something I hadn't thought of before. If you would like to contribute to sharing your story here, please let me know! You can also share anonymously if that makes you more comfortable. You guys, I am shocked and so...honoured that so many people read this and comment. There's so much out there on the good ole Internet and you taking time to read this really makes me happy. Thank you!
5. An awesome date with Gary. We needed it and about 100 more. Our 11th wedding anniversary is next month and it feels like it's our 30th (I mean that in a nice way.) I hope to have an overnight date with him in June.
6. Fort Langley date. I have my chiropractor in Fort Langley so because it's a bit of a drive I like to make it worth it and do something else while we're there. This week Nya and I went to Lelem Cafe to share a chocolate zucchini cake (and I had a coffee!) Also, I have been French Press-ing my coffee each day but am ready to take the plunge and buy a coffee maker. I only like plain old strong coffee, nothing in it. Do you have a coffee maker to recommend?
7. Flowers. They just make everything so beautiful. I don't think I appreciated them growing up but I sure do now. The tulips in our garden are reaching the end of their days but I just planted a few more flowers to last through the summer.
8. Books. I just finished Rising Strong by Brene Brown. I'm trying to get started on my book club book–In the Skin of a Lion but am also reading The Best Yes and the Gifts of Imperfection.
9. Beautiful BC. I love where we live and look forward to exploring more of BC this summer! I've started planning our road trip and it's going to be awesome. We're driving through northern BC up to Watson Lake, Yukon. The one priority for me is Liard Hotsprings as it was one of the stops on our honeymoon and we really enjoyed it. I'm trying to find great provincial parks and hikes for each town we stay in and am just trying to figure out details like where we should stay (camp or hotels?) and what we should drive (van or car?).
10. Our home. When I see the cost of homes right now it boggles my mind. Our house would sell for way too much and I'm so thankful that we bought 10 years ago!
So that's my week. This next month is going to be a bit "interesting" as our Little One is transitioning out of our home. So far it has just led to more hugs and whining. Hugs I love, whining is one of my least favourite things in the world. And in case you are wondering how I'm doing emotionally, I'm okay. I had one breakdown two weeks ago and since then, I feel...good.
How is your week going? What is one thing you are thankful for today?
Love,
Louise
I love that photo of the two little girl cousins! Also, like the one of you and Gary on the suspension bridge (nice leading-lines!)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol! I love leading lines too :)
DeleteHope the transition with your little one goes well for everyone - there must be so many emotions running through you and I just want you to know I'm thinking of you as you navigate the next month (I know May can be a tough month for you already!)
ReplyDeleteSo many emotions, Mandeep! Thank you for thinking of me (and what May means!) I think Gary is concerned how I will do this month but the gradual transition is beneficial for us all :) Hope you are doing well!
DeleteI totally agree with #10. So glad we bought 2.5 years ago and are not looking to buy now, because we wouldn't be able to afford anything!!
ReplyDeleteHave you checked the homes in our area? So crazy!! Glad you bought when you did too.
