Five Reasons to Visit the Abbotsford Tulip Festival

Looking for a gorgeous way to experience spring?  Do you love tulips?  The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is open from March 25 until May 1, 2016. It has a covered picnic area, sandy area for kids to play, and 10 acres of colour!  The hours of operation are 9 AM until 6 PM daily with the option of extra hours for photographers (for a $15 fee.)

Five Reasons to Visit the Abbotsford Tulip Festival

1.  It's close.  Just one km off the #1 Hwy at the Whatcom exit (where you can get cheap gas before or after you visit!) Turn east on North Parallel Road and pay attention to the signs.

2.  Ample, organized parking. Yes, please.  I'm sure it's busy during the weekend but the parking lot was almost empty on a weekday!

3. Affordable.  There is free parking during the week and it's $5 per person for admission.  You are able to buy tulips in the u-pick area for $0.75/stem or pre-made bouquets at the flower market.  Parking on the weekends is $5.

{This is the u-pick area which is why she is amongst the tulips!}

4.  The gorgeous colourful flowers with the mountains as a backdrop. I mean, that's why you're there!

5.  All those put-your-face-in-the-sign boards that kids love.  There is a nice path around the field and plenty of colourful benches and signs.  Nya made sure we stopped at every single one...here are just a couple of them.

Important to note: It can be very windy so tie back your hair and wear layers.  Pack a picnic and don't forget your camera!  You can check out their website for more information here.

Love a happy dutch girl,
Louise
