Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

1. A family hike on a clear sunny day.  I know it seems like we get out a lot but I need it for my mental health. Also, my boys need a lot of exercise for their high-energy levels so it's a win-win.

2.  This guy.  It's not always great but it's always good.  He's hiking this week (in this storm) so hopefully he's having a good time!

3.  Being able to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday (she doesn't want me to say that it's her 70th but don't you want to look this good at 70?!) Thankful for great inlaws.

4.  A date with my two boys.  One good thing about four kids is it makes two seem so easy!  So nice to be able to give some closer attention to the big boys.

5.  Pumpkin patch time with all four.  We don't have our Little One 7 days a week now so we always try to do a fun family outing on the weekend when we're all together.

6.  Visiting the tree we planted.  It was fun to go find it at Clayton Park and see that it was doing okay!

7.  Brothers. I love that these two have each other.  I hope that they will always bond over sports and ridiculous YouTube videos.  I sometimes worry about Koen as he struggles with school and my hope is that his big bro will be looking out for him.

8. These three.  We've purposely put more thought into battles we want to fight and those we are willing to just let go of.   This has helped to alleviate some of the stress as we need different expectations for our kids in some areas–what one did at 5 doesn't mean the other should be able to.

9. Leaves. So pretty!

10.  Rock collecting.  People often ask how we can get our kids to hike so much and this is one example: they were on the lookout for cool rocks.

11.  I could go on Koen's field trip. I don't always love the field trips because I don't want to have to lead a group but if I can just watch my own kid, no problemo.

12.  Nya being easy going.  She gets dragged to at least two appointments per week and I also had her come along on the field trip and to Kai's soccer tournament.  Not her favourite but we made it work.

13. Kai playing in a soccer tournament.  He isn't a soccer player but he's somewhat athletic and very determined (like me!). I love seeing him give his all and have fun doing so.

I would love to hear what you are thankful for today!

Love,
Louise

  1. Thankful for this beautiful time of year. The coloured leaves are just about at their peak around my area now. My very favourite time of year - cool nights, warm days and gorgeous scenery!
