This week I am thankful for:
1. Dinner with my sisters and dad. We met in Abbotsford for sushi because it would have been my mom's 63rd birthday (she passed away at 53 from breast cancer.)
2. A kid that loves to craft/colour/paint. She can do it for an hour at a time without me needing to be involved. So great. This is called "Searching for Blueberries."
This is the one we did yesterday!
3. My dad's quirkiness. Years ago, when my dad found out that one of my sisters was too cheap to buy cheese, he started buying us all cheese about once a month :) Did you know that Gary and I wrote our own wedding vows and never discussed them with each other and we both talked about cheese?
4. Christmas Decor. We drove through Williams Park to check out the light display. The little kids liked it!
5. Cookie decorating with friends. We have a Care Group from church with five families that meets in our home. It's a bit wild but I think it works for where we all are at right now. As a Care Group we meet two evenings a month and enjoy a meal, the kids play, and the adults do a study/talk/socialize. It's chaos but good.
6. Gary the Bartender. He's got some skills! He doesn't drink but I enjoy a nice one once in a while. This week I enjoyed a steamed milk with Kahlua and Baileys.
7. Our treadmill. I bought it secondhand for $200 in January of this year and it has been so good for us! I just put on a Netflix show or movie and run for about 20 minutes. I like that it folds up easily afterwards too!
8. Long(ish) hair to braid. It's nice that I don't have to cut her hair either; those boys need haircuts so frequently!
9. Reading glasses being covered by our plan. So, years of staring at the computer photo editing and blogging have added up and my eyes have had such a hard time adjusting from objects near to far– reading glasses it is! I went for fun ones because I generally go for safe. I asked two random women in the store to help me pick :) I thought the front was brown but now I see it's not...
10. Good deals on next year's winter coat and boots for Kai. His Old Navy coat was $5.99 and the Sorel boots were $7.99. We usually do not buy our kids new coats and jackets (especially since they tend to lose a few items each year) so I love secondhand! You can see the coat is a bit worn but works perfectly fine--glad they're not picky! These were from VV...oh ya, and a pair of Mexx pants for Kai now for $2.49.
11. Nya Bear's preschool Christmas concert. They did a fabulous job. Five songs with full out actions and singing as well as acting out the Christmas story. Nya was the second innkeeper and said clearly/loudly "What can I do for you?" She said she was a little bit nervous about the clapping part in the first song before she went up but she was so awesome. I loved seeing her smile and enthusiasm.
What are you thankful for today? You know it makes me smile when I read over your answers... :)
Love,
Louise
Nya singing is the best pic EVER!! I LOVE your dad and the cheese, makes me laugh and I can totally see your dad doing that :) The glasses totally suit you, the ladies made good recommendations! I think we will check out Williams Park tonight?! Good for you on the crafts! I keep saying that I wish Lauren liked to do crafts but then if I think a little more I realize that I am the one who doesn't really like doing crafts...I need to try a little harder in this department! :0 Good for you for hosting your care group and families! That is a lot of people! I love our care group too. And wow, 10 years coming up hey?!..... I am thankful for my job. I had an 8 hour orientation day Tuesday and I'm super grateful that I love my job and that I have a job to return too! And of course for childcare that enables me to keep working outside the home :) Lyn
ReplyDeleteWhoa Lyn, when you comment you really comment! :) Totally my dad is right. I think L would like Williams Park, it's just a 5 minute drive through. I'm the one that doesn't like crafts either but those paint pens make it much neater!! No dipping into the water to clean.
DeleteToday I'm thankful for Disney junior (just discovered we get this channel this morning), a newborn that slept 10 hrs last nite, and coffee with eggnog. PS love ur new glasses!
