Connecting With The Outdoors: Scout & The Gumboot Kids {Giveaway}

Rainy season is upon us!  Are you looking for a way for your kids to connect with nature in a way that isn't so....wet?  Or maybe you would like some creative exploration ideas for your kids when they do go outside?  Being out in nature is a priority to our family; we love the fresh air, family time, and the learning that happens.   How about following along on an adventure with Scout in the great outdoors?

Scout & The Gumboot Kids is a series of 4 minute episodes created by a local wife-and-husband team from Vancouver, Tara Hungerford and Eric Hogan.  It's themes are connectivity and mindfulness in regards to nature and curiousity which were developed by a leading expert in mindfulness and youth, Molly Lawlor.

The show airs Monday to Friday at 9:55 am on Kids' CBC.  I watched the first episode which you can see below; it's all about bees and their roles in nature.

I personally like the use of songs and repetition in the show--it's one of my favourite ways to teach preschoolers!

Would you like the chance to win a Scout & The Gumboot Kids prize pack? It includes a "Scout & the Gumboot Kids" tote bag, a "Take Me Outside" CD by Jessie Farrell, a magnifying glass, and a Field Notebook and pencil!

  1. We don't.hahaha. No, we have gone hiking before even if it was raining. It actually was one of our best days, when we went to Lighthouse Park in Vancouver.

    I LOVE the rain! Grew up in Vancouver and I miss those drizzy days. We have rainy days here and there where we live now. I invested in some gear for all of us...Hunters, MEC Newt Suits and we get out there every chance we can. Puddle jumping in a favorite.

    On the few rainy days that we do have the kids get their splash pants and boots on and go worm hunting in the backyard. It also makes the trampoline more fun! We have more snow days than rain days so snow days consist of making snow forts and then coming in for hot chocolate once we're frozen!
