I love this weather!!!!

Today we played in our backyard. Our yard is so small but it was so fun. We threw ice cream bucket lids around like frisbees and Kai practiced his slam dunk. Kai thought my frisbee skills were unbelievable. I love this sun. I went for 4 jogs in one week. I feel so good..so happy. I didn't realize what a difference the sun made until we had it for 4 days in a row!
I feel slightly unbalanced in the sense that I have not read a book in almost a month. I'm not sure why. Any good books to recommend? I need a new one ASAP!!!

  4. Unconditional Parenting, by Alfie Kohn.

When the Body Says No, by Gabor Mate.

I'm currently reading Mate's In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts.

Both of these authors are very accessible and interesting writers. Kohn does a lot of talks for parents and teachers. I found out about him during my teaching practicum and love his work (although it's tough to put into practice sometimes). I highly recommend Unconditional Parenting to all parents and teachers.

Mate is a doctor on East Hastings and is a great speaker. When the Body Says No is about stress and how it affects you. His newest (Hungry Ghosts) is about addiction - what causes it (from workaholics to shopaholics to drug users) and possible ways to 'fix' it.

Okay, I'm also reading book 11 in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, but I don't recommend anybody start reading those...even if they enjoy fantasy novels. The series has been going on for 20+ years now, and I don't believe people when they say the next book is the last. :)

  5. Robert Jordan's next book will be the last, because he past away last fall.

  6. Maria, after I posted, I searched the web and found that out. However, being deceased doesn't stop people from continuing to write in your name. V.C. Andrews had her series finished post-life, and then a couple more started after that "based on notes she left behind." I do look forward to it ending...and I hope that Moiraine makes a reappearance. :)
