Thankful Thursday

Every Thursday I take the time to write down ten things that I am thankful for.  I started this years ago and recently read about practicing gratitude in Brenè Brown's The Gifts of Imperfection. She says that joyfulness can be attributed to practicing gratitude.  If it doesn't come naturally to you–practice it.  Thinking, writing, and/or sharing what you are grateful for can help you to become more joyful.  I would encourage you to join me in practicing gratitude.  Happy Thursday, friends.

This week I am thankful for:

1.  My dad.  My mom passed away ten years ago and my dad has had his own health struggles but he's here!  I'm grateful that my kids have a relationship with him and that he is able to know my monkeys.

2.  Nya Bear's health returning.  She has always struggled with respiratory issues and it's very frustrating.  She has asthma and any cold just knocks her out and takes weeks to recover.  We've kept her home all week and I'm so tired of being home with a grumpy girl (I know, selfish but reality!)  Thankfully she is able to go back to preschool today.

3.  Big cousins.  These are the "big kids" and they get along pretty well.  Their personalities are all very different but they all get along (for now!) I believe the most similar are the younger two.

4.  Gary and grace.  Man, we really had no idea what we were getting into when we said "I do".  Thankfully we're both good at investing into our relationship; it's so much work to make it good!

5. The boys' love for their sister.  They fight over who gets to play with her.  I don't know why all three can't play together but they almost always go into groups of two and then switch it up throughout the day.

6.  Going to Kai's track meet.  This was just the school one before the bigger one but it was a good way to break me in!  I get too emotional seeing him work so hard.  Am I allowed to say that he did well? He did :)

{The hammer throw was more of a mallet throw.}

7.  A fabulous win.  I am hesitant to share these because I feel like a lot of people are thinking/saying "No fair! You always win!" but I spent 10 minutes every day for a month entering this contest at Guildford Town Centre (Instagram contest).   I have a difficult time spending money on clothes for myself so this will help me out so much!  I don't bring in a lot of income so this is how I can help contribute :)

8.  A fun experience with Nya.  We were part of a video earlier in the year and you can see the product here.  Nya was going to run into my arms but then ran away, what a monkey! And, because it is a contest opportunity, you can check out the giveaway (for a trip to Whistler!) here.

9. Summer plans!  Every summer we have weddings to photograph so our holidays are usually just a week long.  As two teachers, we want to utilize or summers to the fullest!  So, after doing one wedding, soccer camp and Kai going away to camp, we're heading out on a 2-3 week road trip through B.C.!  I am nervous about wildfires, based on what's happening in Fort McMurray right now, so we will have to be flexible.  The situation in Fort McMurray is upsetting and there have also been evacuations in northern BC now, I feel so terrible for all of those involved.

10.  A powerful message shared.  Friends, I am so thankful for this space.  Although true connections may be best done in person, I am so thankful for this community.  Earlier this week I shared a post We're All Doing the Best We Can and the reach was over 3,000 people which is the most I've had from my facebook page alone.  I was so nervous to post it and it was so well received. Thank you. Also...if you have a story to share, don't forget you can contribute.  It will be starting this Sunday with a sensitive topic that I didn't even know existed until recently–a possible way for someone to know they are not alone.

And now, because you need to practice gratitude, I'd like you to share one thing that you are thankful for!

Love,
Louise

    Im thankful for board games and friends. We have friends we call our last-minute friends that we invite over (usually super last minute) on the weekends to play a game called Aquire. It's always a late night, but so worth it.
