Nerdfiesta 2007

Okay, way too many pictures. This post will be mostly family stuff, the next one will be the more artistic/architectural pics!
The first night was spent in a snazzy hotel in Seattle where Kai got right to his office skills.
The plane rides were def. the worst part of the trip because our little guy needs to run. This is him being overtired and slightly grumpy on the plane.
The fabulouso bus that we took....8 couples, 4 kids. We put on our matching red zip up sweaters and off we went! We spent about 5 hours on the bus inbetween cities (every other day or so). Did I mention who we went with? Gary has some great boy buddies from the years of TWU and they try to get together on a trip every other year or so. The wives and kiddies all get along wonderfully too which is awesome. Nerdfest of 2004 we went to Tofino and Galiano. In 2005, many of them went to Thailand but we were unable to due to our work schedules. We were so happy to be able to go this year!
We flew into Torreon where we stayed with Andrew, Dana and their two kids; Eva (3) and Micah (15 months). Kai loved their doggy, their backyard (with the sand table) and their indoor slide!
We went and saw the Jesus statue and got a great view of the city.

Then, we were off to Zacetecus. Beautiful stone work everywhere (which I will show in later posts). Here Kai and Eva are holding hands!

Our hotel in Zacetecus.
And now....off to San Miguel. This was our favourite place to visit along the way. We were there for 3 days and the buildings and the atmosphere were amazing! First off, here's our cute hotel room!
Sam and Torie rented a quad to check out the city
Kai and I in an awesome restaurant...yummy pizza (Kai's fav). He had problems drinking milk thoughout the entire trip. On this night we added some pop to it and he downed it. Bad parents, I know.
Okay, next stop was Guadalajara. Huge city. We were just a few blocks from a pedestrian only area which was really nice. This city was not my favourite because I had a curtain rod fling into my eyeball. Long story but still painful, need to get it checked out. It's like the back of my eye is bruised. Anyway, back to the good stuff...

And finally, onto Nuevo Vallarta! Kai did not love the pool but he loved the sandy beaches!!

The boys with their boys
Kai tentatively walking in the kiddie pool (we were at a super family friendly resort and it was beautiful!) at the Grand Mayan.
Cheesy family shot
Kai learned to say `brero'.

Gary and I had a romantic-ish walk on the beach while auntie Jen and uncle Andrey watched Kai.

The lazy river. We took this tube ride many, many times. Kai fell asleep almost each time! The `boys' on the other hand, took the opporunity to cannonball into the river ensuring unsuspecting tube riders got soaked. They also did the 4 man luge on tubes down the waterslide.

All in all, it was a fabulous trip! I had such a great time with everyone and Kai did wonderfully. I think it was good to stretch us out of our routine a bit so now Kai can sleep in my arms on a bus. Woohoo! He can sleep in playpen in the same room as us! Yay! It's hard being back but maybe I'll have a snow day tomorrow and won't have to go to work! The rest of the nerds are still back at the resort for the rest of the week but Gary and I returned for back to school. I hope that Gary and I will have many more fun trips like that in the future.
