Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

1.  The anniversary of our engagement on January 21st.  I had returned from Kenya on January 1st 2005 and just three weeks later Gary (finally) asked me to be his wife.

2.  I had Friday to myself as I didn't get called into work (substitute teaching). I drove to White Rock for an hour long walk on the beach.

3.  Movie nights. Friday night. Easy.

4.  A walk around Surrey Bend Regional Park without complaints. It was quite slippery but the kids were happy!

5.  A family outting at the Fort Langley National Historic Site.

6. Book recommendations.  I read this one and was told it would make me cry. I did tear up for sure as it's about coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis.

7. Warmer days and sunny skies. So great that the kids can play outside without all their layers on again! "Mom, wanna see my Knee Up move?".

8.  Hockey time. Our whole family loves playing ball hockey.  Koen had his evaluation this week as he will be playing in the Surrey Minor Ball Hockey League just like his big brother this year. Koen struggles with some coordination issues and has a hard time with verbal instructions but he is very hard-working and determined.  I was really nervous about the try out but he figured it out.

9.  Koen and Nya playing nicely all afternoon!  Kai was at a playdate and Little One on a visit so these two played so well together. I think with just two kids there would be way less fighting.

10. Dry shampoo.  I shower daily but I don't love washing my hair each day because that's an extra 15 minutes to my morning (washing and drying). Friends recommended dry shampoo and I tried it out. It works really well and allows me to look decent in the morning if I'm saving my work out for the afternoon. My only concerns are the chemicals in it (butane, propane etc) and how my hands feel if I run my hair through it...sort of like a chalky residue on my hands. I'm going to be looking for a natural one or even just trying out corn starch. In the meantime, it works very well!

What is something YOU are thankful for today?

Love,
Louise

  1. I used to use baby powder in my hair in lieu of dry shampoo. It worked just as well but a) then you smell like babies and b) it doesn't really solve you above issues. People used to recommend cocoa powder to me since my hair is a bit darker!! Haven't tried it yet though....
