Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

1. Gluten-free meals and cheese. These noodles are made of red lentils. I bought them at Costco. They have a lot of fibre so be prepared (that's the nice way to say our family was gassy). When Gary and I wrote our vows, we did not share them with each other until our wedding day. We both talked about cheese. He made fun of me for only eating Gouda (Dutch cheese) and cheddar and I promised to be a little wilder and try more. Here I am with fresh Parmesan cheese, thank you very much.

2. Brothers. These two can fight but they also spend a good 1-2 hours a day playing sports together. I am so thankful for that. They have learned a lot from each other in regards to leadership, compromise and teamwork.

3. Father daughter moments. Nya usually prefers to be with me but oh does she love her Daddy Bear! I love seeing Gary's softer side with Nya.

4. A night out! I went to I Mom So Hard. It was nice to get out for the evening and do something different. I would say it was 7/10 funny but nice to catch up with sisters and friends and laugh a little.

5. Books. Forever thankful for books. There was a period of about 10 years when I did not read much other than textbooks. It was from University through to the first few years teaching. It feels so good to lose myself in a book again! Both of these were interesting reads. The one on the left taught me more about gender identity/transgender/gender nonconforming issues. The one on the right boggled my mind about some people's childhoods; it's a memoir and the majority of it takes place in the wilderness in Alberta and B.C. If you read it, be warned that it should be rated R ;)

6. DNA testing. I don't even know if these kits are legit or what but I ordered one to test for the BRCA 1 and 2 genes (linked to breast cancer). I'll know in four weeks.

7. Great overnight visit with our first foster son. I love him like my own child and he still calls us Mommy and Daddy. So thankful that we get to be in his life and see him doing well.

8. Secondhand clothes. I don't know how we would cloth our kids otherwise! Great winter clothes found at VV this week–they love their hoodies.

9. Koey cuddles. Koen loves physical touch (from us) more than anyone in our family. I hope it lasts forever!

10. Deodorant making. I've been wearing natural deodorant for 3 years and recently started making my own! Much more affordable and I can make it for the whole family as the get older. Ingredients are: coconut oil, baking soda, corn starch and arrowroot powder (and essential oils).

Also a big thank you to Reece Montgomery for her interview for my BC Hydro post as I don't know a lot about electric vehicles! Reece is gifted in sewing and you can visit her creations on Facebook or her website.

What is something that you are thankful for today?

Love,
Louise
