Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

What a week! Beyond the regular activities we also had two extra kids for five days which was fun but a bit busier than normal. This week I am thankful for:

1. Time to do some baking! I love having healthy snacks for the road to I made a couple of items from Oh She Glows (the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls and the Glow Bars) and then the Cookies for Rookies from The Looneyspoons Collection. The "healthy" part is that they are low in sugar.

2. My last preschool graduation. It is very bittersweet that my youngest is now going to be in primary school. I am so thankful for the teachers she had (Discovery Station is awesome!) and look forward to the adventures ahead. She is very ready for kindergarten and I'm excited for the new friendships, songs and learning experiences coming up.

3. Grandparents! Gary's parents came to her graduation as all the boys were at a hockey game. This is their youngest grandchild and I'm so thankful that they are able to be active participants in her life.

4. Summertime! The kids have been off since Thursday. I don't know what's gotten in to me but I've said "yes" to freezies and ample TV and video games. I'm kind of hoping they get sick of it so they're eager for our road trip.

5. An end to hockey. It's been great but we were all okay when Koen's team finished 2nd this year. It was a good experience for him and we'll be joining again next year!

6. Kai. This is his first and last day of school photos. I am thankful for Kai's ability to help out when need be. I can ask him to do something and in most cases it will be done successfully. It's so nice to have an extra set of hands around!

He's also up for almost any adventure–we hiked the Grouse Grind yesterday and he had to wait for me at each marker ;)  I love having an adventure buddy!

7. Koen. I love the comments he makes and how he sees the world; he makes us laugh a lot. When we were watching The Wilderness Family together (it's a 1975 movie that I watched as a kid) there was a bear attack and he was like "This should totally be rated R, right?" (It's a G-rated movie).

8. Nya. My sweetheart and encourager. She is getting more of an attitude but I do think part of that is asserting herself around her big brothers. I think it's hard to be a girl with two big brothers who are quite a bit older than her but she does it well.

9. Road trip! I'm so excited for holidays that don't involve a plane–we just hop in our car and go! I'm looking forward to hiking and beaches. The boys are looking forward to yummy snacks.

Our first stop will be Tigh-Na-Mara
10. Five days with these Little Lovies. Honestly, it was pretty easy and our kids were so excited! Our first foster son and his sister came to stay with us; we love them like our own and were more than happy to have them.

So, the question as per usual is: What are YOU thankful for today?

Love,
Louise

  1. I am waaaay behind on my commenting. But...that baking looks amazing! I love seeing how much the kids have grown from first day to last day of school :) Your road trip will be amazing! I haven't seen much of the island but I've seen enough pictures to know it's beautiful!!! So glad you got to have those special days with your first Little One and sibling :)
