Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

Anyone else feel like June is a busy month? We have sports wrapping up, school field trips and end of the year parties and so many birthday invitations! All that said, I now have time and energy to spare so I'm all good with it. This week I am thankful for:

1.My boys enjoying playing sports! Thankfully they have chosen basketball, soccer and ball hockey so far as those are ones that I like watching. Koen has his finals for ball hockey on Friday and if they win they are off to provincials!

2. Time with just my three kids. I can focus on their needs and even the basics like the dentist and orthodontist–Kai gets his spacer today ($$). I finally booked Gary his VERY FIRST vision test, too.

3. Beauty products that are healthy for you! I am a minimalist in regards to make up and hair and skin care. That said, I do believe in trying to use products that are best for your body  like switching to natural deodorant three years ago). I recently came across Beauty Counter as several friends that I respect recommended it. I've been using the Charcoal Cleansing Bar in the morning and the Nourishing Cream Cleanser at night. My friend Lauren let me know that in regards to regulations of personal care products, Canada bans about 600 ingredients and in comparison, Beauty Counter bans 1500 harmful or potentially harmful products–their mission is to get safe products into the the hands of everyone.

I'm all good with healthy products but the price point has to match as well which is why these best sellers work for me. If you would like more information, please contact Lauren (she even has samples for those that are local!). You can find her on Facebook, Instagram or on the Beauty Counter website. Not only is she an awesome nurse and friend, she is a former student of mine.

4. A day to explore with Nya and Georgia. I had to go to Pitt Meadows to pick something up so we went to Whonnock Lake and Cliff Falls at Kanaka Creek Regional Park. So easy to parent two five-year-old girls (or maybe it's just these two). What a gift it is to have a cousin–especially when you don't have a sister!

5. Loving myself and good health.  Thank you to those that responded to my recent post What Do You Want Your Life to Look Like? I was inspired by the documentary Embrace on Netflix to consider why I think the way I do in regards to beauty. The realization that my 39th birthday is coming up has made me reflect on a few more things. All that said, I love saying "Hey Self, what do you want to eat?" instead of "Okay Self, what should I eat." I'm not saying I'm into pigging out and a lot of sugar, but most food in moderation is okay and will keep me healthy. I just have to drink more water as I know that is good for me and should be easy to do!

6. Beautiful examples for my kids to look up to. My nieces and nephews on Gary's side are all older than our kids as Gary is the youngest and was married at 29. They are kind and compassionate people and I'm so proud of them all. I was able to take some photos of one of my graduating nieces this week.

7. Friends who also have two boys. Unless you have two or more boys, I think it's hard to "get it". Like, they are unique together. Ahem. So much "Please stop wrestling on the gondola" and so on. Mom of boys, I so get it!

8. Being able to babysit my nieces. My sister and I would swap babysitting a lot in the past but then we had a few extra kids who were a little extra tricky at bedtime and that was on hold for a bit. I love being able to help her out again once in a while AND hang out with these gems. Nya can't wait for them to teach her some new gymnastics tricks!

{I babysat so my sister and her hubby could go to Ani's grade five grad!}

9. So many flowers. Oh, do I love summer!

10. You. Thank you so much for reading. I spend about 1-2 hours making this blog "tick" each day. I am thankful for those that read and comment–70% of readers are those that return over and over and the majority come through Facebook!  Because you visit, I am able to try new products, visit some family-friendly places and also share my love for adventure and fostering! There isn't a lot of money in blogging for me because I like to keep it as a hobby so thank you for your words of affirmation that keep me going. I truly appreciate it when you click on Talk Nerdy to Me. Thank you x 100.

What is something that YOU are thankful for today?

Love,
Louise
