The Bra Fitting

A friend of mine recently asked if I had ever had a bra fitting, and you know what, I never have.  I have worn the same size since I was 16 years old, adapted during breastfeeding, and then went back to the good ole 36C.  Well, let me tell you, I'm not a 36C.

I went to Forever Yours Lingerie in Langley which is a beautiful store with great service.  I was a bit nervous about getting sized as I am not one to stand around naked in front of strangers (okay, most people probably aren't).  Fortunately, I did not have to stand around naked.  I just removed my shirt and she measured me in my bra, and then came back with a variety for me to try on.

They are pricey at about $60.00- $100.00 each.  To me, that's a lot, but they were comfortable and you know what else?  They looked good, with and without a top on.  I just bought one that was on sale and will try it out for a bit before committing to that size.

I would recommend that every woman get fitted.   I've breastfed for a total of 4 years and my body has fluctuated by about 40-50 lbs due to pregnancy.   I think it was the right time for me as my body shouldn't be changing too much any more.

If anything, just put a measuring tape around your torso, under your breasts, and that tells you your band size.  I'm nowhere near 36", I'm closer to 33", so apparently the band needs to be much tighter than what I'm used to.  If you measure around your breasts at the biggest part, the difference in inches between that and the first measurement will give you your cup size (A=1", B=2", C=3" etc).  You can try it out here.

Have you been sized?  Were you way off?  Hey, does this count as working on my marriage?  I think it does.

Love,
Louise

  1. Buying a bra that fits is life changing! Seriously. I was WAY off before being properly fitted.

Yes! I got a fitting about two years ago at The Bay - I went from wearing 36B to 34D. With the new bras I got, I felt like I was walking around with power boobs. Awesome.

  4. This is an important read for women! I don't wear bras very often, but I want a properly fitting one when I do!
