This past week involved some big decisions in regards to our future in fostering and what I hope to do once our baby girl moves home. I'll share more when I know more but I am feeling peace in the whole situation. I should say "peace-ish" because there are so many factors and unknowns in fostering but if all goes according to plan then things will look different around here in the next year. So, with big decisions being made, I am thankful to all those that were able to help answer my questions and encourage me when sometimes I'm afraid of big "scary" changes. Alongside that, here are some other things that I am thankful for this week...
1. A new hike for us. Living in the Lower Mainland we have done a lot of hikes. It was nice to add a new one to the mix: High Knoll at Minnekhada Regional Park. Looking forward to exploring more of Port Moody, Burnaby and Coquitlam area in the next little while.
2. Baby being happy on the hike. We haven't hiked in so long because I was nervous to take her along and we also have to be mindful of her naps. She was a champ in the Ergo.
3. My kids getting along on the hike. I told them that this was my Mother's Day hike and they had to do it without complaining AND not fight. They did wonderfully. Yahoo. They are all great hikers and Nya can pretty much do any hike the rest of us can already.
4. Always more books. I have too many right now and not enough time to read. This stresses me out because there's holdsd available at the library that I won't be able to get to.
5. Leftover butter chicken pizza on naan bread. So good. Could be why I'm working out 6 days a week and not losing weight ;)
6. Date night! Our church has an amazing program for families with extra needs (special needs, fostering etc) and it allowed for Gary and I to have a quick dinner at Cactus Club and then look for a new barbecue (wild, I know). Kai is one of the volunteers in the program and has received training which I think is so helpful. Our church also has a week-long soccer camp this summer and you can find out more here.
7. Nya had her first sleepover at her cousin's house. She's slept at grandma's before but this was a first. She was great and had fun although I don't think uncle Kris liked that she got up at 5:30 am.
8. Birkenstocks. I started wearing them last year and I am a fan. I need supportive footwear and they are winners. It does take a while to break them in as a heads up.
9. Hockey. I had two games this week and I love playing. It's close to home, my team is great and it's a great work out.
10. Sleepover with our first foster son. He stayed over last night. It's always good to see him and I hope we can be in his life forever. Thankful that a friend donated a bike, helmet and clothes for him as we still like to support him and his family.
What are YOU thankful for today?
Love,
Louise
I’m on the hunt for some birkenstocks! I’m going to be very pregnant this summer and I can’t get away with cheap flip flops.
ReplyDeleteSoft Mocs often has them on sale. There is a kind that is waterproof (cheaper too) if you are wanting something that is beach friendly. If you've never worn them before be warned that it takes a good two weeks to break them in.
