It's Thursday which means it's time to reflect on the things in life that we are thankful for. You ready? This week I am thankful for:
1. That Gary reads with Nya even though it's not his favourite thing to do.
2. Signs of spring everywhere!
3. Getting feedback about ways to be more eco-friendly! I'll let you know how this plastic wrap replacement goes.
4. Free slurpees at 7 Eleven. They got them as a treat after we had our family photos done. Talking about being eco-friendly, pretend we didn't get plastic straws. Must get some stainless steel ones. Also, note that one child did not get a slurpee as that is how "fun" family photos can be sometimes.
5. Recipes the whole family loves. This recipe from Yum & Yummer is easily gluten-free with corn tortillas. I love making this on a day when I buy a rottiserie chicken at Costco.
6. Selling off the kids' clothes. We had held on to so much for fostering (other than passing on the boy stuff to my sister). I went through a lot and donated a bunch to other foster parents and then sold some too. It was nice to make some money and clear out some boxes from their closets. I still have the baby's room which has a lot of clothes for future kiddos but I do need to thin it out a lot. I made about $200!
7. Hockey for the boys and I. I wasn't going to play originally with both boys doing it but it is very important to me. I had my first game on Tuesday and our team has a lot of new players which is a bit tricky at first but should go well. We lost 4-2 but were missing our goalie. I have a feeling we'll do okay!
8. Fitness Blender. I'm working out six days a week along with eating better to lose 15lbs. It's the weight that crept on through fostering over the past three years. Already I lost four pounds! I enjoy Fitness Blender (free online workout videos) twice a week. Other days I play hockey or run on the treadmill.
9. More books to read! I finished Big Magic in 24 hours. It's a quick light read which basically pushes you to do what is in you and don't be afraid to start. Now onto As Bright as Heaven. Did I mention Handmaids Tale last week? That was a good read too. 7.5/10. Thankful for book club too!
10. Our little girl. We are so thankful to have met this sweetheart and trust God's plan for her and for us in regards to fostering. We do not know what the future brings but will likely take a break from the Minsitry because they (not the kids) are exhausting.
I would love to hear what you are thankful for today!
Love,
Louise
