Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

1. On Mondays and Wednesdays I now have almost two hours without any kids! I'm trying to use this time to exercise and meal plan. My fitness took a back seat when we started fostering three years ago (I have gained 15 lbs in that time) so it's time to get back on track. It used to be a lot easier to stay in shape but then...well...three pregnancies, lots of kids and needs, and now I'm almost 40. I still get my 10,000+ steps a day but my body is feeling like it's functioning at 65%. I'm not tired, I'm just uncomfortable.

2. Books. Yahoo! I will always be thankful for them. While waiting for my books to come into the library I got The Handmaids Tale as an ebook.

3. Alias Grace on Netflix. Gary did not watch this with me. It is a 6-part mini series based on Margaret Atwood's book written and produced by Sarah Polley (you know, Road to Avonlea). I have not read the book but found it somewhat interesting and love that they don't use contractions. When did people start using contractions? By the way, there is no longer a Stream Team for Netflix (which I used to be on) but I will still always share my love for it!

4. Being able to walk to the grocery store. I have walked there about twice a week for the past 12 years! I love saving on gas and getting my exercise at the same time.

5. Easter with family. We were able to have extended family dinners with Gary's side and mine. We are very fortunate to have so many loved ones nearby.

6. Basketball hoop on the trampoline. If we did not have the hoop it wouldn't be as well used.

7. This space to share. It is therapeutic for me and I'm thankful for this community. I have pulled back a bit from blogging just writing two times a week now. It's sustainable and enjoyable. Any more than that and it feels like work. PS Did you see that I was in a podcast by Created to Be?

8. The opportunity to travel. The positive side of both being teachers is that we get holidays off together. The downside is that we have to travel during peak times! For this reason, we often road trip as it's affordable. Thankful for all for all of the adventures we have had and looking forward to many more.

9. Nya and Koen's salon. They gave us fake money and we could get foot massages and hair styles all weekend long. We put on some spa music and I actually really enjoyed my four foot massages!

10. Essential oils for seasonal allergies. I have them bad. Like, very bad. I now take this roller with my Reactine. It contains five drops of peppermint, lavendar and lemon and I find it works!

All righty! Thank you for reading. Now it's your turn. What are you thankful for today?

Love,
Louise
