Happy 7th Birthday, Nya!

My Nya Bear is now seven years old and is such a sweetheart full of energy. She does have a touch of attitude but I would hope so because it's important to me that she can stand up for herself!

Here are some photos we took and some things that she said when I interviewed her.

Q. What is your favourite thing to do at school?

A. Play with friends!

*Nya is the most extroverted out of all of us. She would love to have non stop playdates, she does not get this from either Gary or I! She usually gets along well with everyone and makes friends wherever she goes.*

Q. What is your least favourite thing to do at school?

A. Work. I get a headache from Math.

*Nya tends to say she does like sports because it's "too much work" or writing or Math because it's "too much work"...but she has non stop energy for playing!

Q. What is your favourite hobby?

A. Singing and Dancing!

*We haven't put her in dancing other than a week long camp last summer. I wouldn't say singing is her gift but maybe it's something that can be developed. We'll see what she ends up doing! 

Q. What do you think you will want to do when you are my age?

A. I want to stay home with my kids and homeschool them.

*This was a shock to hear and the first time I've heard her say she wanted kids. She is very afraid of any pain which is why she said she didn't want kids up until this point. 

Q. What is your favourite food?

A. Root beer floats, hamburgers and lasagna.

*She's had one root beer float in her life--when they were studying matter in school. Nya is our "pickiest" eater but really she's not picky at all. She does not eat a lot though and is usually the last one sitting at the table (could be do to her non-stop chatting)..

Q. What is your favourite thing to do with your brothers?
A. Play Super Mario and basketball on the trampoline.

*They rarely play all together well. It's usually Koen and Nya together that works the best. Nya thrives off encouragement and Kai is not gifted in that area.

Q. What is the best holiday we've gone on?

A. Mexico. I love all-inclusive because we had so much ice cream.

*The way to all of my kids hearts is through their stomachs.

Q. What is your favourite part of being seven?

A. I'm a teeny bit taller to reach higher things.

*Nya is only 48lbs and 3'10". She is petite but continues to grow so I'm not concerned. Also, she just had a NORMAL cold! She barely used her puffers and there were zero concerns about her while she went through it. You can totally outgrow asthma, I'm so happy about this!

Q. What is your favourite thing about yourself?
A. I'm kind.

*She sure is! I do hope that she is loving and kind because it's her nature and she's not trying to please others. For example, it's hard to know how much to encourage her to do things like hockey. She will do it for her brothers but she doesn't love it. I'm trying to figure this out.

Q. What would you like to work on?
A. Listening better.

*I'd say that's a pretty great goal!

Forever grateful for this ray of sunshine in my life. Thankful for seven years together and looking forward to many, many more! My hope and prayer is that she would continue to be kind, confident and encouraging. I am nervous about the teenage years only because I know how they were for me--very difficult self-esteem wise. We've got this, Nya Bear!
