Thankful Thursday

Okay, so this past week was a doozy. I don't share extended family stuff here often because this is a public space (as is the Facebook page) but it's been an emotionally exhausting week. It looks like all will be okay in the near future which I realize is so vague. Unfortunately, being that it was so stressful and busy I ended up catching a cold. I know it's not a big deal at all but when trying to parent and teach, I feel so exhausted and just want to lay in bed. Oh well, the weekend is soon and I may be able to rest!

What am I thankful for this week other than the slow return to health for extended family members? I am thankful for:

1. Healthy kids! I love seeing them participating in track and field. They definitely do better at the track events but that's because they don't train in any of the field ones.

2. Celebrating Nya's 7th birthday. She had seven friends over and they played Freeze Dance, Pin the Horn on the Unicorn, Hot Potato and Charades. There was also painting and chanting (they are so loud) and cupcakes. She had a blast.

3. Biology 12 students donated blood. So proud of them doing something scary but a tangible way to make a difference in the community. Pretend there is a photo of some awesome grade 12 students below.

4. Kai's track meet. He loves the 1500m and ran it in 5:23. That's fast.

5. Kai's grandparents, aunt and niece came to cheer him on. Yay for family support.

6. Our 14th wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything special and I'm totally fine with that. I do not need gifts or fancy nights out. Gary came to watch my hockey game which is not the usual routine. We then went for a nice walk once I was showered ;) I can see us doing a nice trip together for our 20th though!

7. A mom vs kid hockey game! It was fun for the kids to see that mom's can play too! Koen and I took over the scoreboard as we're both a tad competitive ;)

8. A sleepover for Nya! She got to have her "twin" cousin Georgia over and they had fun...and did not sleep.

9. Kai is at camp. In grade seven they go to Thetis Island. It's so nice to not have softball and Jazz band after school. Also, the best part? No fighting! Our house is relatively quiet and has lower stress. In our experience, having a third kid exponentially increased the fighting amongst siblings.

10. I have a part time science teaching job. There is no way I would teach full time unless I had to. I have a part time job in the fall teaching science again which will be great. Not sure how long I will teach for but I can commit to one more year at least!

11. Kai finished Math 8! Yahoo, he is done! He decided after Spring Break to start Math 8 online and finished it this past week with a 95%. Looking forward to him being challenged next year with Math 9--curious how he will do in high school as it's quite a jump.

At SAIL writing his last test

All right, what is something YOU are thankful for today?
Love,
Louise

PS I cannot wait to be taking photos this summer that aren't just head shots with my phone. I realize these photos are so boring. Just give me one more month!!
