Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

1.  Soccer Camp.  Our two boys are at the soccer camp that our church puts on each year.  This means three hours each morning of just having one or two kids!  Gary usually coaches but took this year off as he's feeling burnt out from this past year–I get it!  Teaching (with new curriculum) + coaching + four kids = a lot of work.

2.  Kai's birthday party is done.  Not gonna lie, I love that our next birthday party isn't until January.  Gary and I have our birthdays in August but there will be no party for that.

3.  Family bike ride around Barnston Island.  The boys just gave it a 6.5/10 but it was something different than our usual hike or walk.

4.  That Kai will still hold Nya's hand.  I think I expect a lot from him because he's the oldest (I know what that's like!) and I have to remember that he's still just a kid who is trying to figure out if he's embarrassed by his family or not.  He definitely vetoed the "Team Chapman" shirts I suggested.

5.  School books for just $4 off Bidding Wars.  I don't make my kids do a lot of actual "school work" during the summer (writing, math etc) but I do like even just 10 minutes a day.  My boys struggle with their fine motor and I don't think they'll ever be neat printers but that's fine as there are more important things in life. If I asked them what subject they wanted to do, both would choose math each time.  Nya is doing the Grade 1 Writing one as her fine motor is pretty good!

6.  Koen's expression when he got a good Pokemon.  He was ecstatic.  It's much harder to get pure excitement from the boys these days so it was pretty cute.

7.  Gilmore Girls on Netflix.  It got me through editing my last wedding! I've just made it through to the middle of Season 3–I have so much further to go.  Who do Rory and Lorelai end up with?

8.  A fun week coming up!  I'm going to be doing an overnight (YES!!) backpacking trip with Gary.  Okay, I say "yes" now but once I'm trying to sleep on a thermarest and am fearful of bears we'll see what I'm saying.  Also, I'm going to Bowen Island with a friend of mine for the day.  I love having things like this to look forward to.

9. Free Slurpees on 7-11.  I'm not super fun in the sugar department so I'm glad they could indulge on Monday! I even had Pepsi one, I think it would've been better with a little something extra in there.

10.  Meeting up with a friend from university that I hadn't seen in 12 years.  I'd say that the years from university to now have involved the greatest change and growth, that's for sure! I am not that same person, well, I am, just more fully developed into who I'm supposed to be. And to those that are one of my university friends, it was Rachael!

So there you have it!  What is something you are thankful for today?

Love,
Louise

PS This is what I'm reading this week.  I just finished When Breath Becomes Air and I wanted to love it but just liked it.

  1. I have had lots of good books ideas from you and some of your friends. Here is a book that I just finished reading that I really enjoyed: Letters From Skye by Jessica Brockmole (she has another book that I have on hold at the library, At The Edge of Summer)

  2. Oh I'm so excited you're watching Gilmore Girls! I've watched the series so many times! It's one of the only shows most members of my family watched (including my dad!) in high school. So many good good episodes! I hope you're enjoying it! :)
