Haircut

Today I gave Kai a haircut. I always have a moment of freaking out where I think its way too short but I guess it grows fast enough now. We did it while Gary was using the food processor so that he didn't hear the noise of the clippers and it worked wonderfully! Glad we have a boy because I don't know how well a girl would sit if I had to pull out the scissors and cut her hair that way! Do you like his new sweater vest? I've always wanted one for him. Its actually a size 3 but he sort of fits it now. The problem with ones that are for his age is that his head doesn't fit through. Well, time to play with some blocks:)

Der-go (There you go!)

He says `Der-go' whenever he puts something in its place...I guess I say `there you go' a lot! He has become a word machine....he repeats most of what i say, just today he said `airplane, honey, bye, toothpaste). We put up our tree today with only a few decorations on the top half. So far, he has only tried eating the lights once.
Kai, where are your piggies?
Kai, where is your head?
Kai, where is your belly?

Cuddles with mommy....and daddy

Our little guy hasn't been eating well this whole week (which started off with the flu). It's so strange that he'll want to sit in his highchair and then spit everything out and throw it on the ground. The only thing he is eating is toast and..um, he will eat some cake if we have some. I think he had half a banana today. At least he is drinking his milk.
Gary is on the mend, just getting through his cold now. He's busy with basketball which I know he loves but is always a difficult 4 months or so (time wise, vehicle wise, energy wise). He is really good at it, looks forward to it, and it is a very important part of teaching for him so I'm glad that he can do it. On another note, Gary is super wonderful at putting Kai to bed. Kai doesn't fuss and whine for Gary (like he does with me)).
I am at about 80% health right now which is FABULOUS!!!! Woohoo. I haven't felt this good in weeks. Nothing like being sick to appreciate your health even more.
We had the EASIEST photo shoot ever today as it was with 3 adult men (for their business website)...wow, they were just here for half an hour and were happy with the shots we got.
HOpe you are all having a good weekend! I guess its supposed to snow again tomorrow? I'm going to a cookie exhange tomorrow night so hopefully the roads are okay and we get some good ones!

Oops

How could we be done with the flu?
Gary hadn't had it yet.
Now he does.
Then, we will be done!

Yabbadabbadoo!

Kai tries to say this and giggles like crazy when I say it.
The flu has left our house. I had it too. Gross.
The cold is in full force with Gary, Kai and I coughing away.
I can deal with coughing and running noses.
2.5 weeks til Christmas break!
I was happy to work today and get out of the house.
I wish I could hang out with my new neice but my health is preventing it.
I need to get back in shape.
I made some yummy nanaimo bars.
I will get some pictures tomorrow.

16 months

*If you dont' want to hear about puking, skip this whole section!!*

What a night! I went in to check on Kai at 3am because he was fussing and it was disgusting. Puke everywhere. I got him out of bed and he continued to puke on the carpet (I really wasn't thinking about moving him off the carpet). I woke Gary up (which actually took a while!) and he helped by stripping the bed and doing the laundry. Why was the laundry important? Well, after he puked the 3rd time in the bathroom, I put him in the bath and all he did was cry for Bubi (his blankie). It made me cry because all he wanted in that extreme discomfort was his blankie and it needed to be washed. It was really hard watching him be that sick. Gary and I cuddled with him in front of the fireplace for an hour while we waited for Bubi. He puked again. You need to understand that this puking was not pretty. I know that no puking is nice, but this was extra difficult because at this point there wasn't much but bile to come up. Sorry for all the details but ya, I could give you more:) So, I had to call in sick for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. I hate calling in sick. I'd like to go to work. It's extra work when you go back but anyway, gotta/want to take care of the little guy. Fortunately no puking this morning, just cranky and not eating. I slept a grand total of 2 hours last night and Kai missed a lot of sleep too so I hope he has a nice long nap, I put him down early! Last night I said to Gary that we shouldn't have any more kids. What if they were sick at the same time? More people to love=more potential hurt from seeing them struggle/suffer. I know we do want more but still, there is a risk of something seriously bad happening too. Please don't think I'm a `negative nelly', I've had a few bad surprises in my life already. I called the 24 hour nurse and she said not to give him anything for one hour, oops, we had given him water and up it came. Well, hope he's going to have a good nap and feel better soon! I'm nervous to check on him and see a disaster in the crib. It was really nice having 2 people to conquer the mess last night. He ended up falling asleep in my arms in the recliner around 4:30 am...I had to cough so badly but tried to hold it in as long as possible to ensure a good transfer to the bed. What a night.

Okay, so 16 months. What a fun age! Seriously, I think each month is better and easier and I love getting to know who he is. He's a pretty fun guy, I would be his friend!

New words: tee (teeth/toothbrush), do (shoe), hi, tookie (cookie), house, opi, mine, dirty, poo poo, pee pee

Fav. food: we're back to the banana (but he loves his cookies which are really just crackers..ha ha...tricked him!). He really eats anything, even spicy stuff!

Fav. thing to do: jump around on the couch, try to say `hi' on the phone, continuosly move blocks from one container to the next.

Personality stuff: he has started saying `mine' for a lot of things and taking off with them. He also pushed his cousin Ani the other day to get something. He throws stuff downstairs. He still loves Bailey (ani's dog) sooooooooooo much. He has a happy dance where he runs on the spot when he's happy. I love this dance. A lot. He likes the bath tub again and is wild in there. I try to get him to stay on his bum but there's no way. Sometimes we catch him reading books to himself and his blabbering away is precious. He has no interest in his baby cousin. Maybe this is good. He would prob. want to poke her eyes (he likes to poke eyes and say `eye'). He loves brushing his teeth. He doesn't do a good job of it but he could do it for an hour.

Well, I better nap. HOpefully today ends up being a a good day!!!
Below is a pic of the 3 grandkids. I wish I could get them holding Isabelle because it looks dorky with a carseat but Kai prob. would've hurt her if she was any closer (by accident of course!).

Coughing

I have had a cold, which turned to laryngitis which I believe is now bronchitis. I'm exhausted. I want to sleep but get these coughing fits and can't catch my breath. I'm really, really tired of it. Now, Kai is coughing with his second cold ever and he just finished his first one. Gary started taking echinacea tonight because his throat is sore again. When will this ever end? Right now it is 1am and I can't sleep because I keep coughing and the humidifier and cough medicine and puffer don't work. Kai is coughing and I've never given him cough medicine and I don't know if he's too young to have it. THis reminds me, he's 16 months old today, I will have to do a post on that. Really, I'm not trying to complain but I'm really wanting my old lungs back. Anyone have this bronchitis going around? HOw long did it take? I'm at 12 days so far..please, tell me it'll be gone soon!!!!!

Let it snow!

As you can see, he really is not impressed or the least bit curious with the snow.

Using the sled we got from Opi last christmas.

Pictures

Wow. Everyone wants Christmas pictures. We are VERY busy these weekends! All good stuff.

The Park

Run, run, as fast as you can!

Loving the swing

Yes, my husband wears shorts 360ish days of the year

So proud of himself for climbing to the top. He then went down the slide by himself for the first time, he did it as though he was going down stairs, feet first.

Normal?

Our little guy is a piggy. Breakfast: multigrain toast, egg, banana (and I mean a whole one of each). He eats more than I do! Dinner tonight: 1 1/2 pieces of pizza (yes, we have Delissio once a week on the `oh I'm way to tired to cook night'..), one piece of toast, whole mandarin orange, half an apple. After dinner, he still wanted more food and drank his milk no problem. We did give him some snacks after dinner. Wow. Doesn't it seem like a lot? Is that normal? I weighed him yesterday to make sure we weren't making him too chunky (because he seriously could eat all day long) and he has actually lost half a pound so it must be that he is just running it all off. He will eat any food, even olives which I can't stand.
As for my cold...I am still not normal. I have been having very intense coughing fits like one from 5-6am this morning. At least my voice is back. Maybe I will see a doctor but if its just a cold, I feel bad bugging them. Sorry, no pictures today. Really, nothing exciting. Taught, came home, played with Kai, ate, school work.
