I just started my first week of teaching at 57% (rather than 86%) and my plan was to be spending more time here writing but so far that is not the case. When I'm not on my computer/phone I can get so much done. Not an earth-shattering recognition but wow, so much self-care when I step away from those things. So ya, maybe don't waste your time reading this! Just kidding, take a minute to read and then step away from your device.
This week I am thankful for:
1. Having at least two hours to myself each day. I try to spend one hour doing just self-care and then the other hour doing all the things that need to get done (cleaning, cooking, errands etc). This week I got my haircut (really just a trim). I have waited 12 YEARS to have some time to myself so I feel this is pretty well deserved ;)
2. Library books! This was my read this week. It is very similar (obviously) to the Tattooist of Auschwitz and I appreciated learning more.
3. An active family. I should say Nya would be just as happy sitting on a couch but she joins in on the fun happily!
4. Getting older. Aging is a gift and boy am I feeling the need to take better care of myself. These are just my Vitamin B6, tumeric and fish oils.
5. Finally going through Nya's room. We donated and recycled a lot of items and her drawers are so much cleaner. It doesn't look much different but it was nice to get it done.
6-8. Hockey, new D-gels and improvement in health. Notice that I made this one into three? I love playing hockey each week and found these D-gels for $4.99 (new are $69.99) secondhand. I had just worn shin pads before but more protection makes me feel better. I am also grateful that I am slowly improving (plantar fasciitis) and just need to be patient!
9. Quinoa bowls. Love new meals idea. This was super easy! Just quinoa topped with turkey, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes and feta cheese. Throw in some tzatziki and enjoy!
10. A new way of eating. I'm trying intermittent fasting. This means I eat for 8 hours (10 AM to 6 PM) and then stop for 16. There are many varieties of it and I'm seeing how this works for my body. I am an emotional eater and after a busy/hard few months...years....I am definitely not treating my body as well as I should. I would like to be faster, stronger and lighter so I hope that this helps! Turning 40 has been wild for my body. For example, I used to heal so much more quickly. I also don't remember having so much bloating. I will keep you posted on any changes. So far it's going fine although after hockey on Tuesday night I really wanted a snack but just had some water with electrolytes instead which is all my body really needed.
Okay, time to get going! Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
Love,
Louise
