Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

One thing that I have learned through this Thankful Thursday journey is that gratitude needs to be practiced. I grew up with this grateful mindset in my childhood home but focusing on it each week has helped me to keep bitterness, comparison, and self-pity at bay. This week I am thankful for:

1. Gary being home so I can run around without kids. PS Gary and I now have the same colour hoodies. It makes me laugh that we're into matching outfits now.

2. Kids sleepover at grandma and grandpa's. A couple times a year the kids get a sleepover which means we get a break. We still had the baby but that felt like zero kids. We enjoyed a steak dinner and chocolate  mousse for dessert while watching Concussion.

3. Books. My favourite entertainment. I'm waiting for five books to come available at the library and just finished all my books yesterday so in the meantime I don't know what to do!

4. Hockey starting! I'm nervous because both boys are playing and so am I. Some nights all three of us are playing at the same time in three different arenas so I'm not sure how that is going to work out.

5. Nya making the decision to pierce her ears today. She is very fearful of pain (and almost daily tells us that she will never have a baby) so I was shocked when she said she wanted it done. Hoping it goes okay! Yes, we still have an old fashioned home phone.
Telling Grandma that she's getting her ears pierced!

6. Monkey bars are back outside! We had them in the basement over the winter so I'm glad to have some space in our house once again. Nya looks terrified but does enjoy them.

7. Our Springfree Trampoline. It has been so well used! We lost a piece of the basketball net backboard (ahem, someone accidentally threw out a rod) and they shipped it out right away (yes, still had to pay for it). Looking forward to getting more of our backyard ready for spring by planting in the garden and getting a new BBQ. We had ours for 13 years and it's no longer functioning. Also, do they make mini hot tubs?

8. 1/4 of a cow (sorry, vegetarian friends) We bought organic meat in the fall and it's been so great to have in our freezer!

9. Taxes done. Yeehaw! Bring on the refund.

10. A week away. It felt so good to be in the sun for a week and just away from the house. When I'm here, I see all that needs to be done. When I'm away, I can focus more on the kids and Gary. This is what it's like to be a perfectionist.

What are you thankful for today?

Love,
Louise

    1. They are amazing! One injury so far: Koen had a bloody nose from Kai but he's had them from playing at other times too.
