Thankful Thursday

If you are new here, every week I reflect on ten things that I am thankful for. These are personal posts and I do appreciate everyone who takes the time to read. I hope it allows YOU some time to think on what you are thankful for. Gratitude really needs to be practiced and my parents were gifted in this area and passed it on to me.

This week I am thankful for:

1. Fun in the snow. Well, let's be honest, Gary had fun in the snow with two of the kids. We have learned not to force "family fun" on everyone when they just need some downtime so Gary took Kai and Nya to the local park for a little sledding.

2. New fun (somewhat healthy-ish?) treat from Costco. Dark chocolate, dried raspberries and chia seeds. Really good but you just have to be cool with the seedy feel in your mouth and the risk of that chia seed getting stuck in your teeth.

3. Getting all of the kids' hair cut. It's not my favourite thing to do but really needs to be done frequently for the boys. Nya said "I feel like I'm at a salon!". It saves us a lot of money each year when I do it myself.

4. Movies on Netflix. We watched "The Theory of Everything" which is based on the life of Stephen Hawking and his struggle with ALS. I did not know a lot of his story so although it's slow moving I found it interesting.

5. Beautiful hand-me-downs for Nya. Thankful for friends that think of us for our kids' clothes! Thank you, M and J.

6. Finding a black sweater. I was looking for one with a loose turtleneck as I had one years ago and mistakenly donated it. I found one at Talize (secondhand) and it still had it's orginal price tag on it so basically brand new! (PS Those Italian Leather boots were bought secondhand too years ago and I love them!)

7. Discovering Art For Kids on YouTube. I has asked friends on Instagram what they would recommend for kids that love to draw and it came highly recommended. Nya spent oodles of hours drawing away. Definitely recommend it.

8. My stand mixer. I grew up with a hand mixer and thought that was all I needed. True, I don't "need" it but wow does it make life easier.

9. This sweetheart. She was "texting" me that she loved me.

10. My big helper! He spent a good hour shoveling our sidewalk and the neighbours without me even asking.

He also had his final hockey game and they won in the finals! He was the top scorer and I'm sharing that because I'm a proud mama who knows that he works hard every day and puts his whole heart into it.

What is something that YOU are thankful for today?

Love,
Louise
